Does it happen to men too?
Sexual assault can happen to anyone. Men often find it difficult to seek support or report it because of societal stereotypes which assume that it doesn’t happen very often to males. Men may feel vulnerable, embarrassed and ashamed that they couldn’t prevent it from happening to them or may minimize the impacts of the assault as a way of coping. Men often report feeling similar traumatic impacts as most female victim/survivors including humiliation, loss of control/powerlessness, anger and difficulties developing trust in subsequent relationships.
