Service Philosophy

We believe that victim/survivors are the experts in their own lives. Therefore the counselling, information and advocacy SACL provides recognises the existing strengths and survival skills of all victim/survivors. We work from an intersectional feminist and victims/rights framework which acknowledges all forms of sexual assault as an abuse of power. We work towards challenging the harmful societal misconceptions surrounding sexual assault, which tend to place responsibility for this crime onto the victim rather than the offender.
